Pastor Mark Edwards On January 3, 1999, Mark Edwards was installed by Bishop Theodore F. Schneider as the pastor of Grace Lutheran Church. Pastor Edwards had been ordained the previous day at Saint Mark Lutheran Church in Springfield, VA. Mark Edwards is a graduate of the Naval Academy and served in the U. S. Navy as a submarine officer. Grace Lutheran Church is pleased to "Welcome Aboard" Pastor Edwards and his family, Tracey, Tricia, and A.J.

Ground-breaking for New NarthexGrace Lutheran Church
In the summer of 1994, Grace Lutheran Church broke ground for its new narthex. On December 18, 1994, the congregation dedicated the new narthex and a refurbished sanctuary and education wing. This memorable service and feast celebrated the completion of the third major building effort. Construction on the sanctuary and education wing began in August, 1966 with the first service held there on Easter Sunday, May 7,1967. A fellowship hall and office unit was completed on October 5, 1986.

Pastor Richard A. Berry began his ministry at Grace on Easter Sunday, 1970. In May 1983 Pastor Vernon Frazier conducted a ten-month Evangelism Ministry for Grace. He returned to serve as interim pastor in 1984/85 while Pastor Berry was on sabbatical to attend Emory University. In 1987 Pastor Dennis Schell served as an assistant pastor for two years while he continued as the counselor for Grace Center. For 28 years Pastor Berry and Ginny faithfully served this congregation and community before Pastor Berry's retirement in September, 1998.

Pastor and Catherine Zimmerman Pastor W. Russell Zimmerman, mission developer and first pastor, began ringing door bells in July 1965. Two temporary places of worship were used. Forty-seven people met at the Ft. Washington Methodist Church for the first service Oct. 24, 1965. On Feb. 6, 1966 services were moved to Fort Washington Forest Elementary School. 

The original charter of sixty-seven communing members was formalized Sept. 17 and 18, 1966, and incorporated at Baltimore, MD, on Sept.25, 1966. On charter Sunday, a delegation from Augustana Lutheran Church, Washington, D.C., presented the new Grace congregation with a gift of deed and title to the five-acre site that they had bought years earlier for a mission church. In 1969, Pastor Walter Tappert served the congregation for three months.
