From The Bishop’s Desk:

The rich man who comes to ask Jesus what he should do to inherit eternal life is a good man, sincere in his asking. Mark’s gospel is alone in saying that Jesus looked on him and loved him. Out of love, not as judgment, Jesus offers him an open door to life: sell all you own and give it to the poor. Our culture bombards us with the message that we will find life by consuming. Our assemblies counter this message with the invitation to find life by divesting for the sake of the other.
Sunday, October 13: 21st Sunday after Pentecost:
Each Sunday, Offerings are collected in a basket at the entrance to the sanctuary. You may also mail your offerings to the church or donate on-line through our website at: Grace Lutheran Church (online giving) or scan the following QR code:
Almighty and ever-living God, increase in us your gift of faith, that, forsaking what lies behind and reaching out to what lies ahead, we may follow the way of your commandments and receive the crown of everlasting joy, through Jesus Christ, our Savior and Lord.
Amen.

“Lessons from Dietrich Bonhoeffer in a House Divided and a World on Fire” by Dr. Lori Hale - The following is adapted from the intro to the study:
As we live at the intersection of civic life and faith, we grapple with deep divisions and deep questions about what it means to be disciples of Jesus Christ. How do we hold onto our faith convictions while staying in relationship with our neighbor? How do we engage passionately and peacefully? What is the most faithful path to take where hatred and spite seem to reign?
Dietrich Bonhoeffer’s writings give us great insight to the struggle of figuring out what is the next most faithful step in a broken and imperfect system.
We will meet every other Wednesday at 2 pm at the church.
